Welcome to Ectopic Pregnancy Foundation

The Ectopic Pregnancy Foundation (EPF) has been established to provide information, advice and help to women who have suffered an ectopic pregnancy.

The Foundation is proactive and has identified all Accident & Emergency departments in England, Scotland and Wales.  We write bi-annually to all of the departments and enclose a large poster to remind staff to consider the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy.  The letter and poster can be viewed by clicking on ‘A&E’.  The Foundation also takes an active role in research into ectopic pregnancy.  Member(s) of the Foundation have published widely in peer reviews, medical journals on various aspects of ectopic pregnancy.  These include the incidence, risk factors, fluctuations in rates and also rare presentations of ectopic pregnancy.  These can be visited by clicking on ‘bibliography’.  Research is on-going and the Foundation is supporting a number of studies.

To increase the interest in ectopic pregnancy in medical students, the Foundation has set up a Lawson Tait prize in gynaecology.  This is an essay in ectopic pregnancy.  It is open to all final year medical students at Imperial College London.  The prize will consist of a certificate and a cheque for £200.00, and will be presented at the Graduation ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall in October.

Information given to women prior to discharge to hospital may be difficult to remember.  After interviewing a number of women who have suffered from ectopic pregnancy, we came up with 15 questions that they would like answers to.  These FAQ’s have been translated into 19 languages which are available to download on the website.

The Ectopic Pregnancy Foundation is a registered charity; charity number 1122286.
